Jasmine Stone
Jasmine has been involved in live music from the early age of 14. She initially worked with her father, Peter Stone, who had been successful in the West Australian music scene for some years. Jasmine has fronted many bands before joining Daren Reid and the Soul City Groove in 2002. Together with Daren, they form an amazing synergy which is both complimentary and exciting. Jasmine's voice is superb and offers the audience a range of fabulous Soul and R n B songs as well as the occasional rock classic. Jasmine enjoys writing music lyrics and collaborating with other artists. Jasmine is one of the longest serving members in the Soul City Groove and is fabulous to hear.
Christian Dixneuf
Christian was born in Madagascar and lived his early years in France. Christian began performing in an original band when he was just 15. He left school to follow his first love, music, and he has never stopped. Whilst in France, Christian became a part of the Monte Carlo Orchestra. From there he moved onto the original rock scene where he was lucky enough to support Toto on a national tour. Christian traveled around playing music for some time before landing in London and it was here that he stayed a while, playing with artists such as Boy George and Keith Arey. Christian has been with the Soul City Groove for the last seven years.
Michael Tan
Michael is born and bred in Perth. He has been a part of the
Soul City Groove band for the past five years and has been working on original compositions
for some time now co writing with his Soul City Groove buddy and long term friend Matt Bartel.
Michael is a versatile musician who can play a number of instruments and also has been involved
in many of the newer musical developments in the Soul City Groove. Michael is a doctor in
Audiology. He is modest about his achievement, taking only two years to speak German fluently
and passing his certificate of Deutsch. He is now the bands interpreter. With a love of music
and the understanding of sounds, Michael is truly passionate about what he believes in.
Matthew Bartel
The Bartel family has always had a hand in music.
Matt’s mother Carolyn studied at the South Australian Conservatorium of Music studying classical
piano and his sister Kate lectures Music at UCLA. With these influences it was a natural progression
for Matt to become a musician in his own right. Matt started to play guitar in high school and
then realized his all consuming passion he successfully applied to WAPPA. Matt has worked with
a number of fabulous musicians and has been a part of the Soul City Groove band for over 5 years.
Matt is currently composing original compositions with Michael Tan and feature in their own project
Village Kid.
Mick Burn
Mick has been recognized as one of the outstanding
drummers of his era. Playing with bands such as Matt Taylor and Chain, Mick grew up pretty fast
in the rock n roll lifestyle. The majority of West Australian players know Mick for his great
rock groove and solid delivery. Mick has been a part the Soul City Groove for nearly five years.
Mick and Daren have known each other for many years and come from neighbouring suburbs. Mick loves
the horses and Carlton Football Club.
